Define the lot

For assay or microbiological work, define equal contribution, mixing and retained portions. Do not improvise a composite by pouring visually similar scoops together.

Control sampling loss and exposure

Record open time, room humidity and any discarded surface material. Volatile or moisture-sensitive extracts can change while waiting on the sampling bench.

Trend supplier variability

Compare assay, moisture, particle behavior, color and odor across lots. Gradual drift often predicts flavor and blending trouble before a specification fails.

Does a supplier COA remove the need for receiving tests?

No. The OEM must qualify supplier data and perform appropriate identity and risk-based verification.

Can every drum be combined before sampling?

That destroys traceability and may spread a nonconforming container through the lot.

Send the botanical type, drum count and critical tests for a representative receiving plan.
